I love the IDF

A friend of mine sent me this video.  Its video from an Israeli UAV....a Hamas terrorist throws a grenade at an IDF soldier and the IDF soldier charges him, grabs him, and uses the grenade thrower as a human shield against the grenade.

Random Stuff

I finished up my Masters Program this past Saturday.  I graduated from the University of San Diego with a Master of Science in Global Leadership (MSGL).  It was a great program and I learned a ton.  I definitely recommend the program if you are into ethical leadership, best business practices in the world today, and the international geopolitical environment.

My uncle Ray died last Sunday.  It was really a surprise to everyone in the family.  He died at the urgent care center.  From what I heard, he went there for chest pain and just slumped over while filling out the paperwork.  He was only 55....He spent his whole life working towards retirement and then when he almost reached that point...death...The people he worked with at Boeing had just completed a plaque they were going to give him next week commemorating 30 years of service there...his co-workers got the call that he had died 5 minutes after they finished putting the plaque together.  His death came after a weekend spent with family up at another uncles Cabin in Wisconsin.  He is the first of 10 children from my mom’s family to die and he was the oldest male.

I was able to get off of work last minute to be able to attend the funeral, which was really nice, although buying a plane ticket the day before cost me a lot of money, but it was worth it because most of the family was able to make it in and I got to see relatives that I had not been able to see in almost 4 years and who I won’t see again this Holiday season b/c I am scheduled to deploy over the holiday season.  I arrived in St. Louis at 1222am on Wednesday and I flew out on Friday at 6pm.  Only 3 days there, but it was a good time (because I got to see family and be with them, not because my uncle died, him being dead is not good).  All my relatives were so happy to see me and were very happy that I was able to make it in, although they all would have understood if I couldn't have made it in and no one was expecting me to show up.

I served as a poll bearer at my uncle’s funeral.  He was laid out for everyone to see on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.  We burred him Thursday morning at Jefferson Barracks, a military cemetery where my grandma and grandpa are buried.  He was catholic so the viewing was held at a at a Catholic funeral home.  It’s sad to have him not be with us and like I said earlier, it’s a real surprise that his is dead.  Surreal kind of because it was so unexpected, at least I know he’s in a better place, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord...although I do wish he was still with us, even though I hadn't seen him in almost 4 years...

I think I need to pray more for my families protection...one of my aunts and some of my cousins were almost killed in a car accident 2 weeks ago when their van was totaled when it ran into a tree and my uncle just died this past Wednesday.  My Aunt told me its by the grace of God that they were all able to walk away with only scratches.  Also, my mom's sister's husband (an uncle by marriage)...his mom died in this past week too so that particular family had to attend 2 funerals this week...not fun...

I am staying up all night tonight so that I can sleep all day tomorrow to kick myself into a night shift routine so I can work nights for the next few days...I will probably play some video games (now that I finished up the masters program, I can let myself play video games a little bit more, although there isn't a real strong desire to)...perhaps I will do some reading.   I also want to do some organizing and cleaning...

I am moving away from Las Vegas in the next few months to New Mexico before I deploy.  I am looking forward to the move because I enjoy moving every few years, but I will miss the friends I have made here in Vegas.  Alas, like the friends I have made in other areas of the country, I will probably not talk to them but a couple times a year if that...but its good to have friends and know people because then you have people to visit and people who can visit you

God is very faithful and I love him very much and am very grateful to him for everything in my life.  He takes care of me and protects me and blesses me so very much...Glory be to him forever and ever!!!

International Negotiations

I am finding the reading for my international negotiations class to be very good.  They are 2 of the more interesting books that I have had to read for my masters degree, not to say that any of them are bad as they are all good.  The books "Getting to Yes Negotiating Agreement without Giving In" and "The Heart and Mind of the Negotiator" are very good.  What I am learning from these books will serve me well.  I just finished up reading a section on the psychology of fairness.  Quite interesting.

Expelled....The movie

A friend of mine just told me about the movie "Expelled" by Ben Stein that I had not heard of before.  Check it out.  It looks like a great movie.
